The Embedded Assessment 2 is due on Thursday the 29th. In groups of 4, students will create a thesis statement that argues how one's culture affects the way one sees the world and other cultures. After collaborating on the thesis, each member of each group (politics, religion, family/ethnicity, arts/music, or sports) contributes a body paragraph of their own cultural experience and how it shapes their world view. The essay will be a collaborative one consisting of 4 body paragraphs, one for each member. Then, once that is complete, the group as a whole can construct the rest of the intro and conclusion. Via email, students can gather each other's work and assemble into one cohesive essay. We will have time to work in class on Monday and Tuesday of this week.
Due on Monday the 12th. Students are to respond to the prompt on page 55 of their Springboard book: In a reflective essay, explain your cultural identity. 550-600 words. Typed, double spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman. Keep it in the past tense and be sure to have a clear thesis in your intro, with a body section that clearly explains to what you identify, any conflict that has occurred as a result of such identification, and hopefully, a resolution. Essay also needs to have a conclusion paragraph that sums up the paper.
